A virtuoso guitarist and a superb, inspired singer, Paul Ponnudorai defies musical boundaries with disarming easiness. He is one of a handful of musicians around the world who rather than just playing music, can afford to play with music.
I’ve heard Paul played before at Harry’s Bar@ Esplanade. My first encounter with him was on New Year 2005. My friend is an avid guitarist and kept persuading us to watch his performance at Harry’s. It was a worthwhile one, minus the expensive liquor. I was amazed by his skills and ability to reshape songs effortlessly. He changes the length of the song and its style based on the crowd’s responses. And his voice, though husky, is powerful and oozes the jazzy feel. Second encounter was New Year 2006. And he was promoting his new CD - Right On Time. I was very tempted to buy at that time, but held myself back due to financial constraints. But now I got the whole album ripped by ‘Devil’ who bought it not long ago. Haha. Free musics! And I do not have to download them illegally.
For those who are interested to listen to blues or jazz, check out Paul, either at Esplanade or from CDBaby which offers free MP3 samples.
Or check him out at The Living Room, 15 March 630pm - 9pm.

I was checking through the campus events and remembered this! Well, I very much wanted to enter my site for the competition but sadly, mine was just established and I still haven’t found the correct remedy for my site. (And also sadly, the application deadline was over!)
Personally, I do not want mine to be purely a blog of what i have done or to show off photos. I want it to be a solid one! To share my works, my interest for beautiful things, and my findings or knowledge or tips with everyone who cares to drop by. I am very much impressed by the works of …
- Karen - her blog is all about her motherhood. How she copes with her two sons and how she takes the time off to enjoy herself
- Patricia - a cartoonist on one hand, and an avid reader on the other.
Then there is specialised blog like …
- the Brand Infection which enlightens us to the advertising and branding world.
I guess they must be really knowledgable or experienced to have written such insightful posts….
Anyway, back to NUS Blogfest. I guess NUS must have really caught on the blogging fever. My personal opinion is - the quality of the blogs for each category can still be improved, be it the design or content. And what are the judging criteria for the blogs? Criticisms aside, there are still a few good blogs being selected into top 10, especially in the Most Creative Blog category.
Check out sparklette.net, glys.com, those flowers (photoblog!) and that & this (for content!).
And by the way, if your site takes too long a time to load, most likely people will just hit the Alt+F4. So for a few sites out there, please take away some of the photos or add-ons from your site! A simple site with a good content is the best attraction!
P/S: And if anyone does notice, most of the blogs are powered by Blogger! Hehe. Now finally, what I’ve paid for is worth the uniqueness! No more xxx.blogspot.com!

Just got this piece of news from my friend.
So, to all out there, please practice proper contact lense procedures and DON’T use overdue lenses, especially disposable ones.
As a safety measure, I advice everyone to stop wearing contact lenses until further notice is given by the Ministry of Health, Sg.
And in case some of you are lazy to read the news, here’s some tips to take care of contact lenses.
- Practise proper contact lens cleaning and care regimes. Lenses must be rubbed with the fingers and rinsed thoroughly before soaking overnight in a multi-purpose solution.
- Disposable contact lenses must not be used beyond their recommended disposal period.
- The multi-purpose solution in the lens storage case must be changed everyday even if the lenses are not used daily.
- Contact lens storage cases should be replaced at least every three months.
- Users should stop wearing the lenses if they develop any redness, blurring of vision or pain of the eye and to seek consultation with a doctor or contact lens practitioner.

It took a few hours of fumbling with WP and cPanel to get ishimmer.net up and running.
It’s not easy setting it up, although experts out there would probably think I’m a super internet idiot. Thanks to my “geeky” friends Andrew and Chuanz for answering all my doubts and helping me to troubleshoot. Kudos to you guys!
It is certainly rewarding to finally see my dream come true - having a website of my own!
Till then, take care and have a good year ahead!
