Ravmon.exe

I know my Norton has expired long long time ago and it’s not updating automatically. But I was unwilling to upgrade or change because I have never strayed to illegal sites and I think I’m pretty careful.

The day when I decided to switch to AVG because of its free service, my computer was detected to have inhibited Ravmon.exe. Such a headache for me as I am not a geek and I honestly don’t know where are all the system files.

Luckily there is internet and there is always an answer if you search hard enough. I managed to kill and delete all the files, my sincere thanks to Eminem from FKN1337. I didn’t follow his instructions exactly because I tried a few times and it couldn’t work properly. So I merely searched all the files mentioned in his post and deleted those whose status are hidden. Then I go to msconfig and uncheck a “no-name” process and restarted my computer. And VOILA! All is well.

Of course, along the way, I would like to thank sucker, devil and reghu for providing support and listening to me (although they didn’t help much, *keke*).

For noobs out there, scan your computer periodically with Trend Micro House Call and install AVG. And if unfortunately your computer gets infected with ravmon.exe, remember my this post and delete the virus all by yourself!

That said, I’m pretty proud of myself. *grin*

Gmail woes

I can’t log into my Gmail account for the moment.

It started yesterday when I came back from Sentosa and tried to login to check my emails. It kept saying that the username and password does not match. I thought maybe I had remembered my password wrongly so I went to retrieve my password. And you know what the Google system said?

“Sorry, there is no such user.”

I then tried to search their help information but couldn’t find a specific solution. I went to forum, cleared cache and cookie, used different browsers (IE6, Firefox, Netscape) but I still couldn’t login. I sent an email to Google and they sent me an auto-reply with the same reasons that I read from the help information. I sent an email to my Gmail account from Hotmail account, it got bounced back and said that my Gmail account did not exist.

I don’t know what happen… Anyone knows why?

I am frustrated.

Update: I sent another email to Google Team and received the same auto-reply. I tried to create an account with the same username but the system said the username has been taken. I can just hope that my username can be retrieved asap. *sad*
