Ravmon.exe August 14
I know my Norton has expired long long time ago and it’s not updating automatically. But I was unwilling to upgrade or change because I have never strayed to illegal sites and I think I’m pretty careful.
The day when I decided to switch to AVG because of its free service, my computer was detected to have inhibited Ravmon.exe. Such a headache for me as I am not a geek and I honestly don’t know where are all the system files.
Luckily there is internet and there is always an answer if you search hard enough. I managed to kill and delete all the files, my sincere thanks to Eminem from FKN1337. I didn’t follow his instructions exactly because I tried a few times and it couldn’t work properly. So I merely searched all the files mentioned in his post and deleted those whose status are hidden. Then I go to msconfig and uncheck a “no-name” process and restarted my computer. And VOILA! All is well.
Of course, along the way, I would like to thank sucker, devil and reghu for providing support and listening to me (although they didn’t help much, *keke*).
For noobs out there, scan your computer periodically with Trend Micro House Call and install AVG. And if unfortunately your computer gets infected with ravmon.exe, remember my this post and delete the virus all by yourself!
That said, I’m pretty proud of myself. *grin*
