X-Stitching

A lot of people might not know… I actually like cross-stitching a lot. I started to dabble with this craft since my mum sewed together her cross-stitch work to make a long letter pouch. I have asked her to teach me and I thought it was pretty easy because as the name suggests, it’s just stitching crosses. After learning then I realised that you need SO MUCH patience and be SO careful.

But all these don’t deter me from falling in love with cross-stitching.

I have since made a number of pieces for friends and people whom I respect and love. Potpourri pouches for my tuition teachers, framed works for my friends and family, bookmarks for my friends… it’s just a pity that I did not think of taking photographs of those pieces then.

Ah, here’s a set of flowers that I made for KWALMS - my sister gang. =)

Ooh, and I just spotted a piece of artwork from Bothy Threads. It’s called Autumn Cut Thru’ Cottage, costing about S$100! I wonder when this will be hanging in my own living/sleeping/dining room. *drool*

Sending eCard (& Winning Prizes)

I stumbled upon this site today and was amazed by the resourcefulness of the author. He/She must be a super avid fan of contests/lucky draws to be posting all these updates.

Anyway, while browsing the various contests, this particular lucky draw caught my eye.

It is the Project Postcard 2007 campaign AGAIN! This time with a full-flash website - more postcards to choose from, avatars to customise (and download), and more prizes! The steps seem pretty easy - you just have to send eCard to your overseas friends/family. If they agree to enter the lucky draw with you, then the pair will be in for the lucky draw! The more eCards sent, the more chances you have in winning!

Pretty cool website. I browsed around and sent some eCards already. Hehe.

This is my favourite avatar. Doesn’t it look like me? *grin*

Let me see yours. Have fun sending (and good luck in the lucky draw)!

They are either Friends or Foes

I have been experiencing a lot lately, some are good while some are bad. These are all the things that have never happened to me before in hall, or in any groups or committees that I have participated in (I guess I am lucky and privileged up till then).

There are so many things I would like to share here, but I know it’s not appropriate.

Mum used to warn me that the world out there is a dangerous place - I should never be naive to think that as long as you treat someone good, he/she will treat you good in return. And I also always think that as long as I am not a threat to someone, he/she will never harm me. But what has happened to all the moral values and exemplary stories we learnt from school when we were young?

How do you consider someone as your friend? Someone whom you respect? Someone whom you can get along with? Someone who will go through thick and thin with you? Or just about anyone whom you know, whom you have said ‘hi’ to?

Some people can smile, chit chat with you and bitch to you about other people. But how can you be sure that they won’t bitch about you in front of other people?

Some people like to complain to other people just about everything that happens to them. But are they sure that they don’t deserve to be treated like that?

Some people seem to be taking care of you, but when you need their advice or opinions at critical moments, they abandon you, or worse still, backstab you when you are unaware of it. How do you beware of such people?

How do I remain neutral and objective in an environment where there are so many things remain unknown to me?

What should I do when I realise that some people I have befriended earlier (and gotten quite close to) do not align to my own values anymore?

I guess you can only distinguish these two categories during adversities.

Rant #01

There are so much things that I want to blog about, but I couldn’t make myself sit down to think and write.

It’s starting to bother me…
