R.I.P. Yasmin Ahmad July 28
Because of “Funeral”, I heard about Yasmin Ahmad.
Because of her sudden hospitalisation, I knew that she was actually the director of Sepet.
Because of her death, I knew that all those years of heart-warming Petronas festival and National day ads were directed by her. I watched and resonated with these ads every Chinese New Year. And it didn’t occur to me at all that they were directed by the same person, although at hindsight now, they actually have the same theme, and are very emotional.
Today, the Burnetters in Singapore paid a tribute to her. Jarek reminded us how creative and unique Yasmin was, and how much she has contributed as a Burnetter. I couldn’t help but dropped tears although I don’t know her personally.
